The MAVSeN laboratory also has one DraganFlyer X-6 GPS guided UAV helicopter capable of outdoor flights. This six rotor MAV is developed by Quanser and its design increases thrust and stability while enabling the helicopter to maneuver quickly and precisely. The motors of this MAV directly drive the rotors, therefore the sound output is minimized (less than 65dB of sound at one meter and less than 60dB at three meters is produced). DragonFlyer has GPS position hold capability. This MAV is integrated with a video camera for layered-sensing applications.
